Therapy for Individuals

You may be faced with a challenge like divorce, illness, or loss. You may be feeling anxious, depressed, worried, or dissatisfied with your life. Therapy can help. Maybe you see yourself repeating old destructive patterns, getting lost in negative feelings, or having trouble with relationships; whatever it is, we'll work with you to create an engaged, happy, and meaningful life.

Our approach to therapy, while helping you address specific problems and symptoms, works with your inner experience. We do this by tracking, moment-by-moment, your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. The focus is primarily on your emotions, helping you to identify and express them constructively, while learning how to use them to better understand who you are and what you need. As you become more present, increased awareness highlights recurring themes and problematic emotional patterns. These rigid patterns evolve from old, painful experiences (often from childhood), and interfere with developing new, lively, adaptive responses to current life challenges. Our approach focuses on building emotional awareness and changing these old, maladaptive emotional patterns in order to free you to create a richer, more satisfying life.

We are active participants in the therapy process, engaged in building a safe, lively relationship with you. We educate you about the therapy process, help you maintain a focus, and guide you toward the changes you desire. We have integrated several approaches to therapy, using them to address your unique needs and goals.
